Stawell Gold Mines
Rehabilitation plan and independent bond review

GRA has been engaged by Stawell Gold Mines (SGM) to write and continually update its mine closure plan. The comprehensive approach to SGM’s mine closure incorporates best-practice social, commercial and environmental aspects. In 2023 GRA executed an independent review which included an audit of the site’s material balance, investigation into material suitability, design parameters and unit cost rates applied to the rehabilitation activities.

“The team at GRA has been an instrumental part of the ongoing success of Stawell Gold Mines. Over the past eight years, their comprehensive approach and expertise in updating our mine closure plan and associated technical studies have been invaluable. GRA additionally supported SGM in executing an independent review of the site environmental bond and their understanding of the Victorian Government framework ensured that an optimal outcome was achieved within the required timeframe. These works, along with numerous other tasks have always been completed with the utmost professionalism and I would have no hesitation in recommending their services.”

Stavely Minerals
Project development and study program

In 2019 Stavely Minerals discovered shallow high-grade copper-gold-silver mineralisation, known as the Thursdays Gossan Project. GRA provides ongoing project development support to Stavely across project permitting, environmental assessments and stakeholder engagement. GRA’s understanding of the complex Victorian project permitting framework supports Stavely in their project development planning and forms a key component of the project’s study program.

“Stavely Minerals understands the importance of understanding ESG issues early in a project such as Thursdays Gossan, but Victoria’s complex legislation can be overwhelming. GRA was brought in to get things right from the start. Their extensive industry experience and up to date knowledge has helped Stavely by establishing the appropriate baseline studies and ongoing monitoring, also providing advice and facilitating community and government meetings. As a result, we have received positive feedback from several government agencies on our proactive and best practice approach."

Iluka
Exploration work plan

In 2023 GRA was tasked with developing a strategy to expedite Iluka’s approvals process for geotechnical test pit soil sampling at the Wimmera Project and prepare the associated documentation within a tight timeframe. GRA delivered all required documents, including an exploration work plan and administrative update, in six weeks.

“Successful development of mining projects in Victoria is a complex process. With years of experience in the Victorian resources sector, detailed knowledge of past and current projects, a thorough understanding of relevant legislation, and insight into emerging issues and risks within the sector, the advice and support provided by Grounded Resource Advisory to Iluka’s Victorian projects and operations has proven invaluable."
